Doggie Day Camp

  • Our day camp areas allow all dogs indoor and outdoor access.  Big dogs have access to an 1,100 square feet indoor play area and to Cedar Grove Dog Park, which is 3/4 of an acre.  There are fantastic play activities like tunnels, a play set, and the always super fun sandbox.  Small/medium dogs have access to a separate 1,100 square feet indoor play area, to the hills of Silly Tree Dog Park and tunnels.

Webcams are available for viewing on our website at no additional charge from a laptop or desktop. If you want to view from your phone or tablet, you can view from the O'Doggy app for an additional charge.

All day camp dogs are required to be spayed/neutered by 8 months, be current on the Bordetella,  DHPP and Rabies vaccinations and pass a temperament test performed by a member of our management. We accept puppies at 4 months of age so long as they have had three rounds of vaccinations, including Rabies. Please note that if your dog has not been socialized by the age of 5 years, we will not accept them for day camp.

To keep our pack safe, we offer a deep and lengthy questionnaire that will allow us to get to know your dog a little better. Before we schedule your temperament test, there is a questionnaire that you will need to fill out. Once we review the questionnaire, we will contact you in regards to scheduling a temperament test.

We do not have breed restrictions. However, the evaluations of the bully breeds (Mastiffs, Bull Terriers, Pit Bulls, Bulldogs, etc.) and herding dogs (German Shepherds, Cattle Dogs, etc.) are more stringent because of certain breed specific tendencies which can make them more difficult to manage in an off-leash environment.

A dog recently adopted from a shelter or relocating to this area should be in their new home for a minimum of 3 months to acclimate to their new environment before being evaluated for services.

The dogs that fit in best at Kennel Resorts are dogs that cannot wait to get here and see their friends. They respond to basic obedience cues and can be called off if play becomes over-stimulating. They love to play and share toys nicely. They enjoy interacting with our staff and accept when new staff are working with them.

Still not sure whether Kennel Resorts is the right place for your dog? Read on to learn why you can trust us to provide many unique and enjoyable experiences.

During our 17 years in operation, Kennel Resorts has had 20 serious dog bite or injury incidents. A serious bite, as defined by us, is one that requires stitches to treat the wound. We don't count minor scrapes or cuts, or non-puncture wounds that are treated with antibiotics. From 2006 until now, we estimate that we've had over 80,000 dogs coming for playtime. Playtime sessions can last anywhere from one hour to 11 hours a day. To ensure safety, we have a large indoor and outdoor exercise area. The area for large dogs is about one acre, while the area for small dogs is about ¼ acre. Our day camp exercise area is the largest in Cincinnati. When assigning dogs to play groups, we consider factors such as age, temperament, and any physical limitations, not just the dog's weight. Therefore, a dog over 35 pounds may play with small dogs, and a dog under 35 pounds may play with large dogs. We discourage social play for dogs weighing 15 pounds or less. If an owner chooses to include their small dog in a play session, they accept the additional risk. Our staff members do not share space with the dogs and limit their interaction with social dogs. We monitor the main exercise areas using video cameras and have a direct view of the large front park. When dogs interact with humans, their anxiety increases, leading to more aggression towards each other and the humans.

All of our social dogs must pass a stringent temperament test. A dog’s membership is revoked if he/she shows inconsistent or aggressive social behavior.

Social play for dogs is safest when they have plenty of space to move around without humans nearby, and when they don't display aggressive behavior. Our day camp dogs are relaxed and can find separate areas to nap. They work out issues among themselves and have few problems with our staff. We prioritize safety since there are approximately 4.5 million dog bites each year in the US. If a dog bites another dog without provocation, we will share this information with both parties. If our cameras capture an unprovoked attack causing serious injury, we will provide the video to both parties. Owners are responsible for resolving any liability issues. While we cannot record or witness all incidents, we have a large exercise area and cameras in place. All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and have a temperament test by our staff before participating in social play. Dogs should be socialized beforehand to prevent fear-based aggression. Exposing them to multiple dogs in a new environment will help them feel more comfortable and confident. Please feel free to click the button above and fill out our contact form for more information. Thank you for taking a look around. We look forward to meeting you and your fur baby!
