Exercising Your Dog

Time and time again, it has been proven to us that exercise and engagement can take your dog's stay from boring or anxiety inducing to fun and relaxing.  Every dog boarding at KennelResorts goes outside for fresh air three times a day.  This not only gives your dog a chance to go to the bathroom outside, he gets to stretch his legs and get some exercise in.  For some dogs, this is plenty.  They happily go back their cabins, curl up, and take a nap.  However, other dogs simply need more.  KennelResorts offers many different exercise options to fit your dogs wants and needs.

Exercise and engagement can minimize and even eliminate unwatned behaviors while your dog boards at KennelResorts, such as:

  • estructive chewing, digging or scratching
  • Self harm from licking, scratching and biting
  • Hyperactivity, excitability and night-time activity
  • Unruliness, jumping up on people and over excitability with other dogs
  • Play biting and rough play
  • Attention-getting behaviors like barking and whining

We know every dog is different and that is why we offer many different options for your dog's stay.

Social Exercise

This includes any of our 3 activities in which your dog is playing inside & OUTSIDE with dogs of similar size. All dogs must have passed a temperament test at KennelResorts before participating in social exercise.

Day Camp is offered Monday - Friday and allows your dog to play with his friends all day! This is great for dogs with lots of energy.

1 Hour and 2 Hour play sessions are available 7 days a week. These sessions are great energy relievers and allow your dog to get much needed rest periods in between exercising.

Non-Social Exercise

These activities are great for dogs that may be overwhelmed by playing in big groups or otherwise do not get along with other dogs.

1 Hour in an Exercise Run is great for those dogs that just want a little extra time outside.  This option is simply an extra hour outside and is suggested for single low energy dogs.

1 Hour in the Mini Park allows your dog to have an extra hour outside in a large space to run, sniff and dig.  We suggest this for groups of dogs boarding together.

Finally, we have the 1-on-1.  During a 1-on-1 your dog(s) goes out with a Kennel Technician for 30 minutes. We can take your dog(s) for a walk around our 7 acre wooded property, find a quiet place to cuddle or play in one of our 2 large dog parks.   This option is great for dogs that need extra engagement!

Best of all, your dog's exercise can be customized for each stay; mix and match social and non-social, skip a day here and there, do whatever you think is best for your dog.  We are happy to give suggestions once we get to know your dog and see how he boards.
